Open Dressage Teams Announced
CDRC are off to Leyland Court on July 11th to contest the Open Dressage Qualifier, picking the teams has been no mean feat, but eventually after so many people tried out for the open teams and with much support from Beth Franz, Sue McMahon and Nicky Klaiber, we have 2 teams chosen, they are:
Cheltenham Diamonds: Cheltenham Emeralds:
Elementary 45 ~ Fe Moore E45 ~ Nichole Baker
Novice 24 ~ Sue Kear N24 ~ Amanda Rawson
Novice 28 ~ Helen Gabriel N28 ~ Sarah Hance
Novice 30 ~ Julia Newberry N30 ~ Kirsty McDonald
Fe and Nichole are also riding Medium 61 as an individuals We wish them the very best of success, they have all been training so hard so it will be great to see how people get on, we have mixed age and experience with youth and newbies so we hope to wow the judges with our teams and just maybe bring home the ribbons. |
Cheltenham Triumph at Dressage to Music Area Qualifier
Five members represented Cheltenham at the D2M Area Qualifier on June 12th at Home Fram EC. Putting together a floor plan and matching suitable music to horses paces takes an enormous amount of time and practice, which was rewarded with fantastic results, in big classes, from all members of the team. Carol Brooks had a very good place gaining nearly 70% in the Novice without points class. Sue Owen was SECOND in the same class with 75.28%, QUALIFYING for the Championships. Georgie Bull was FIRST in her, Novice with points, class with 75% also QUALIFYING. We had two riders in the Elementary class, BOTH OF WHICH QUALIFIED (We hope ~ still awaiting confirmation for Fe!). Nicole Baker was SECOND with 78.33% and Fe Moore was THIRD with 75.42%.
I think we can clearly say Cheltenham swept the board and had the highest number of qualifiers than any other club- We will be at the Championships in October with even more practice and polished performances. I am sure they will accompany me in a big THANK YOU to Sue for all the help she gave them putting their music together.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL

Well well well.......... the CDRC luck bus just keeps rolling! 8 riders pitched up in 30 degree heat at Manor Farm on Sunday 27th June to contest the Novice qualifier, we had 2 teams riding P12 and 2 individual riders who bravely rode the Novice Riding Tests. The day started well when we saw with an impeccably turned out Lucy Verity and the delightful Danny making their debut for the club, a beautiful test executed well in rather slippy and less than perfect terrain, at the same
time Rachel Smith and her chance ride Springhills' Charisma Bay proved a glorious partnership and a more than able standin for Lily who has puss in the foot, we still don't know who he belongs to, but apparently he's for sale and boy can he move! Meanwhile brave Kim Drinkwater was our first RT11 rider and a perfectly presented Paddy showed how it could be done, though not Kim's favourite test she emerged unscathed from this new experience.A minor gap saw our next block, by now we had all 3 arena's with our riders in, David Bailey (sorry Noel) and his lens didn't know where to point at first, Polly present a superb riding test on Sky and sat pretty as a picture to ride the dreaded RT11 (though Polly is definitely not a fan!) she would later realise she's got to do it all over again (after I promised her it was a do it once job!) In Arena 1 Sue Owen put her superdooper spurs into action and taking heed of Beth' Franz advice last week, rode a positive and fluid test, though Cookie like everyone else felt the slip on the ground and backed off the canter a bit, but nothing too damaging happended and they flourished for us.
Over in Arena 2 a red faced Gerri Garrot rode for her life to prove a point that Cobs can be in front of the leg and boy did she get some great trot work from Murphy, sadly the steam ran out in the canter, but overall a significant improvement and one which was noted by Beth Franz(Go Gerri!) Then just after lunchtime (with the heat at its worst!) we had Sian Evans on a sweetly placed Toy who although green on occasions and again struggling with the terrain, produced a tidy test with some 8's and great comments. Then Catherine Evans and her atypical chestnut mare, Teasel came out to play, such a
sweet mare and perfect for the hunting field, she knuckled down to a positive test, the sat nav got a bit muddled ½ way through, but no major hiccups and showing great potential for the future, a tribute to many years of hard work from Catherine we know! Next in was Kim (the old pro) Drinkwater and yummy Paddy, fresh from bouncing round the RT11 he shone in P12, the transitions were perfect and the execution unquestionable, finally it was Carol Brookes and a delightfully presented Matilda, the trot work was to die for, so strong, but sadly a slip in the first canter scuppered the remainder of the test, such a shame for Carol who puts in so much effort, but an unsettled Matilda gave it her best in the circumstances and we couldn't have asked for more.
So what a day, we had an impromptu picnic by the pooling of resources, mostly provided by a generous Sue, thank you to Polly for the bucks fizz and to Gordon's for Carol's gin and the freshly made cake from Gerri. We had a huge amoutn of supporters as well (most of whom seemed to be working for Sian!) and our own team photographers! What a day, such a great team spirit and atmosphere[here, we really were a club to contend with today and I am so very proud of all the hard work and effort from all concerned which leads up to the wonderful outcome again today. Thank you also to those unsung heroes of the day, Rachel's daughter Megan for being a perfect caddy, Catherine s hubby for all his help for her and Teasel, Ted to cheer on everyone, and finally to Kim's mum who drives Kim and Paddy everywhere and I'm sure by now must be
wishing her daughter wasn't quiet so damn good!
The upshot is........... We've Qualified for the Nationals for the P12 team AND for RT11 for Polly! |
